NOVOTEL ISTANBUL BOSPHORUS SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

Today, leading a healthy and peaceful life depends on using the global and local resources well, and carrying our cultural heritage to the generations to come by preserving and promoting it, in other words, leading a sustainable life.

Accor is deeply committed to maintaining a sustainable development and creating value and plays an active role in giving back to the planet and the community. In this context, Accor has set four main objectives for the future: Supporting its employees, taking customers in consideration in decision-making processes, innovating with business partners, acting with local people. In addition, Accor supports waste reduction measures, local production and recycling on the food side, and adopts an environmentally friendly water, energy and waste management system in its properties.

At Novotel Istanbul Bosphorus, we are proud to be a part of the Accor group, a company which has been pursuing sustainable development for many years, and we take actions on environmental, social, cultural, economic, quality, human rights, health and safety matters throughout our property for change.

As part of our sustainability practices and commitments:

  • By implementing the industry criteria set forth by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), we are proud to be among the hotels holding the “Sustainable Tourism Certification” within the sector.
  • We are proud to share that our hotel was awarded a “Zero Waste Certificate” by the Republic of Türkiye in 2021 for an effective waste management system in place. Moreover, we are happy to fulfill all environmental legal procedures and more, and to take actions to instill this awareness in all of our stakeholders so that future generations can enjoy a clean and habitable world.

We take the following actions to support our sustainability commitment mentioned above:

  • We follow the “Accor Global Diversity & Inclusion” commitment, respecting all differences, ensure health, safety and well-being of all our employees, and support their careers and personal development.
  • The Accor Global Procedure “Watch” is in place in our hotel to take immediate action in case a suspicious act involving children is encountered.
  • We pay attention to sorting wastes effectively by source, group and hazard class in our hotel.
  • Taking pride in being in the heart of Karaköy, the cultural heritage of Türkiye, we take actions to cherish this culture raise awareness of our guests so that they can experience the surrounding areas better.
  • We pay attention to ensuring that our suppliers are environmentally friendly, local, and domestic product/service providers that stick to ethical values.
  • With a sense of social responsibility, we develop projects that create added value to support our neighbors and Non-Governmental Organizations.

In our journey for a sustainable world, we believe that every one of our stakeholders has a duty, and we commit to take necessary actions for sustainable development, taking into consideration the balance of preserving and utilizing natural, cultural and social elements that constitute the resources of our sector, including but not limited to the efforts mentioned above.

ACCESSIBILITY FOR EVERYONE

As Novotel İstanbul Bosphorus, we are committed to the principle of ‘Accessibility for Everyone’. We prioritize the well-being and safety of all our guests, employees and visitors with special needs and physical sensitivities. Our goal is to ensure that their holiday or work experience is tailored to their specific requirements.
To fulfil our obligations, we have designed our facilities with special rooms that cater to the needs of our guests. Additionally, we have specially designed lavatories and warning signs with Braille alphabet in the elevators at our facility. We collaborate with relevant associations and organizations to implement these initiatives, ensuring that our facilities meet the necessary standards.
